FCBL signs distributorship agreement with Koufuku International Limited

The CEO of Koufuku International Limited (KIL), a DHI owned company based in Chenary in Trashigang and the Director of Department of Corporate Business (DoCB) of Food Corporation of Bhutan limited (FCBL) signed a distributorship agreement on 15 July 2019 for Druk Zambala cheese. Through this arrangement, both the companies hope to make this product easily No image uploaded accessible to the all the people across the country through FCBL. Druk Zambala is a brand name of the erstwhile Savour Bhutan cheese which has hit the major markets in April this year on a market trail. Following an overwhelmingly positive feedback from the customers, KIL is now going into a mass production to fulfill the rising local demand.

The much-awaited Druk Zambala cheese is the first locally processed cheese block with a quality at par with that of international cheese blocks. To start with, FCBL wishes to distribute about two metric tones of cheese every week and progressively increase the purchase thereafter depending on the market demand. Since the product is reasonably priced, FCBL hopes that the product would do well in the market.No image uploaded "With the national debt and trade deficit on rise, Bhutan needs more of such products especially at this critical hour and FCBL is more than willing to render support through their market facilitation and logistics", said Dorji Tashi, the Director of DoCB.

Establishment of KIL in Trashigang has provided a reliable source of income to several communities in the east who supply raw milk to the company. Through this market facilitation support, FCBL hopes that KIL would grow to a greater height and increasingly contribute to the socio-economic development of the country. FCBL is more than willing to render their support in the areas of marketing and logistics for any emerging home-grown companies.
