The Food Corporation of Bhutan Limited (FCBL) officially inaugurated its Agri-Outlet at the NPPF Complex, Changangkha, Thimphu today, marking a significant step towards improving market accessibility, promoting fair pricing, and ensuring the availability of fresh fruits and vegetables to consumers. The launch ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Chairman Dasho Dzongdag of Thimphu as the Chief Guest. FCBL also welcomed the Director of the Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives (DAMC), government officials, stakeholders, farmer groups, cooperatives, agri-entrepreneurs, and development partners who attended the event and contributed to the successful establishment of the outlet. The Agri-Outlet has been established to strengthen Bhutan’s agricultural marketing system by enhancing supply chain efficiency, reducing post-harvest losses, and facilitating transparent and fair pricing mechanisms that benefit both farmers and consumers. The initiative is expected to provide farmers with improved market opportunities while ensuring consumers have access to quality agricultural produce at reasonable prices. As a pilot initiative, the outlet will be closely monitored and assessed based on key performance indicators, including price stabilization, farmer participation, consumer response, and operational sustainability. Insights and lessons learned from the pilot phase will inform future strategies aimed at strengthening agricultural value chains and expanding market access across the country. FCBL extends its sincere appreciation to all stakeholders and partners whose support and collaboration have made this initiative possible. The general public is encouraged to visit the FCBL Agri-Outlet at the NPPF Complex, Changangkha, and avail themselves of fresh agricultural products offered at fair and affordable prices.
