Courtesy Call to the Hon'ble Governor of GMC

The Chief Executive Officer of the Food Corporation of Bhutan Limited (FCBL) paid a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Governor of Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) on 29 June 2026. During the meeting, the Hon’ble Governor welcomed the CEO and honoured him with a Tashi Khadar in recognition of his appointment. During the engagement, the CEO briefed the Hon’ble Governor on FCBL’s key strategic initiatives in support of the development of Gelephu Mindfulness City. The discussions focused on infrastructure development aligned with GMC’s future requirements, the establishment of an agri-hub to strengthen agricultural value chains, and the development of dedicated sales outlets for premium organic and essential commodity products. The Hon’ble Governor reaffirmed FCBL’s important social mandate in ensuring food security and supporting the agricultural sector. He also advised that the proposed retail outlets be developed through a structured and phased approach to meet the evolving needs of GMC. Looking ahead, the Governor highlighted the importance of eventually relocating the wholesale distribution centre to Sarpang or Tsirang in line with GMC’s long-term development plans, while establishing a high-quality GMC-standard retail outlet in Gelephu. As a gesture of FCBL’s commitment to nation-building and community development, the Corporation contributed Nu. 1,000,000 (One Million Ngultrum) towards the construction of 108 Chortens. FCBL expresses its sincere gratitude to the Hon’ble Governor for his warm reception, valuable guidance, and continued support. The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to advancing sustainable agricultural development, strengthening food systems, and contributing to the successful realization of the Gelephu Mindfulness City vision.
