On 16 August 1974, His Majesty the Fourth Druk Gyalpo, Druk Gyalpo Jigme Singye Wangchuck, established the Food Corporation of Bhutan Limited (FCBL), laying the foundation for an institution dedicated to serving the nation and contributing to Bhutan’s food security and agricultural development. This year, FCBL staff from the three regions and the Corporate Head Office, led by the CEO, offered thousands of butter lamps at Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey Lhakhang and Tamshing Lhakhang before the commencement of the Foundation Day programme. The sacred offerings were made with prayers and aspirations for the good health, peace, happiness and long life of His Majesty The King, Her Majesty The Queen, Their Royal Highnesses the Gyalsey and Gyalsem, the Royal Family, and the People and the Country. Following the morning observance, FCBL staff continued the spirit of service by volunteering in the construction of the new Lhakhang at Kharchu Dratshang of His Holiness Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche. The day was therefore not only a celebration of 52 years of FCBL’s service, but also a meaningful reflection of our enduring values of gratitude, devotion, service and commitment to the nation. From its humble beginnings in 1974 to today, FCBL remains committed to serving the King, the People and the nation, and to contributing to the well-being and prosperity of Bhutan.
