The Food Corporation of Bhutan Limited (FCBL) franchised seven Farm Shops in the country with the signing the franchise agreement with the interested Sales Executives on 29th September 2018. The franchised farm shops are: Tingtibi, Gesarling, Khoma, Saling, Sephu, Gangtey and Chumey.

Franchising was pursued based on the recommendations of the Farmshop Review Committee fielded by Department of Agriculture Marketing and Cooperatives to enhance performance and to make Farm Shop operation sustainable.

Under the franchise agreement, farm shops operators will no more be under the administration of FCBL; however, the mandate of farm shops will remain same, which is to supply essential goods and commodities, farm inputs and pursue buy back of RNR goods.

FCBL plans to franchise more farm shops in future.
